Peppers

After driving around my neighborhood for about 20 minutes I ended up just going to the nearest cafe I always go to. I was getting a little bored of going to the same atmosphere for the past few weeks and I wanted to try a different cafe for a change. I went to 3 different local spots around, 2 of them had parking fees and 1 has a free parking but for some reason it’s all occupied! (and its only 11am on a Tuesday morning). So sticking to the same spot I always go to and the best choice for now cause they got free parking! I’m all bout penny pinching recently cause I went overboard with my budget this past week.

I’m adding a new illustration today from my sketchbook. It’s just a generic acrylic marker painting of red peppers (haha). I think I like how it came out and i’m excited to post it here! Though usually I get hyper critical of my work after finishing it, but it doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate how it turned out. And this piece probably is one of them.

First, I started with all the red color schemes from my markers then threw in some random navy blue shades for shadows and a dark reddish brown (which I think they didn’t really go well with the whole color composition) but I kept going anyway. I guess that’s just one thing about me, I don’t always plan the colors ahead. I like the surprise and magic of picking out your colors on the spot and creating something amazing you never thought you could.

I was able to save the peppers by adding some pop of colors like light pink, teal and yellow. I don’t think it made the painting a lot better but it somehow saved my eyes from twitching.
